Casualisation

Professor Edward Webster is a Professor of Sociology and the Director of the Sociology of Work Unit at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. His current research interests include: the Evolving Labour Relations System in South Africa, Labour Market Segmentation and the impact of Deep Level Gold Mining on the occupational culture of miners.

He is a founder of the South African Labour Bulletin, was a member of the review committee on Labour Market Commission, 1996, and is currently secretary of the Research Committee on Labour Movements for the International Sociological Association. He was awarded a Fulbright Senior African Researcher Award in 1995 at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

He says the Minister of Labour should intervene to stop the outsourcing of labour - poepol, let people do what is in their best interest, as long as they do not use force.

He is proposing the use of force to achieve some social objective. We should refrain from doing it - The Apartheid Government did it, Nazi Germany did it, Muslim extremists do it.

We do not do it in Liberal Democracies. Society, Work and Development Institute (SWOP)

"For the love of the game"

Poepolle, almal wat meegewerk het om hierdie kak slogan uit te dink en tot vervelens toe op SABC/RSG uit te saai.

Judge Motata

“Richard Baird, who runs a consultancy, told the court yesterday that Motata said, “f**k you” and, pointing at him , said, “f**k the white guy” several times when confronted at the scene of the accident on January 6 .”

His blood sample was kept at room temperature for 6 weeks (while being fast tracked!)and may have caused more alcohol to have formed - No ways 4X the legal limit I would argue...

Be that as it may - the SA public should say - admit guilt and we would consider that you may stay within the legal profession (NOT as a judge) or drag your case out, waste time, bring the judiciary in disrepute and NEVER enter a court again other than a defendant in your next crime.

You are a poepol and the prosecution and support team share the honour...

Asshole drivers

The owner of a Prado: RXC 493 GP in Sharonlea Fri 24 Nov 2008.

Week 6: Stofile

The outspoken Stofile said that Saru was using the emblem illegally because it failed to renew its licence to use it. It seems to me that he was somewhat misinformed.

As Michael Trapido put it in his blog "Somewhere right now, in a South African village not far from you, the frantic search for their missing idiot continues"

Week 5: Clive Pillay

the ombudsman for banking services for moaning about the legal principle of "set-off" which allows banks to appropriate funds in a customer's cheque or savings account to recover debts owed by a customer on his credit card or personal loan.

He never ever said anything (that I am aware)about a much more horrendous practice when SARS wipes out a bank account to claim for taxes owed to them.

Personally I believe that NOBODY - not the bank, SARS or anybody else should have the right to confiscate any money out of an account if I did not give explicit authority to do so.

I would want a person such as Pillay to take a principled stance and protect the consumer's interests against all "morally repugnant" approptiation of ones funds withou consent.

Week 4: Luke Watson

For his reference to "Dutchmen" - I allways wanted to put up a sign saying "Rockspiders are dumb" and when someone complains being offended, I would be able to ask "What, so you agree that you are a rockspider?!" One can replace the word with any of the terms that one could regard as offensive - kerriebek, hotnot, platpeester to denote a particular group - stop doing it, you poepolle out there like Luke Watson.

Hier is 'n ander man wat selfs sterker voel as ek:

Week 2: Gavin Watson

"Mail and Guardian" was correct in revealing that a convicted embezzler is the business associate in the Bosasa (a firm with a chequered history in the normal sense of the word!) prawn farm envisaged at Coega.

Week 1: Tito Mboweni

Pretorius should not address him in the manner used by whites when talking to blacks during the apartheid era.

"I shall not permit you to talk to me like whites used to talk to blacks", Mboweni said.

Mr Mboweni - only some whites said: "Jou fokken swart gat", "bobbejaan" "donnerse kaffer" and terms like that - Mr Petorius, according to my information used none of those words. How did the other whites then talk to blacks, if not in a proper and civilised way?

Come on stick to the knitting and protect the value of the Rand - that is what you will be respected for.
